"The date was April 29, 1975, and American ground troops had been struggling to gain a foothold in Vietnam for a decade. Despite the declaration of a cease-fire, two-years prior, the fighting raged on and the North Vietnamese communists shocked the world by overthrowing the South Vietnamese government in Saigon.
