"Eddie Griffin's biting standup comedy film DysFunktional Family comes to DVD in a fairly packed release from Miramax. It comes in a 1.85:1 widescreen image (enhanced for 16 x 9 TVs) and a clear Dolby Digital 5.1 track audio-wise. Bonus features include the featurette ""A DysFunkional Premiere,"" which hands the spotlight over to Griffin's featured relatives from the film (including an acidic uncle who refused that courtesy because he ""does not mess around"") and friends, such as Andrew Dice Clay, as they discuss Griffin's talent and their own dysfunctional families at the film's premiere party. The other big feature of the disc comes with a whopping 35 minutes of deleted scenes, most of which are split between expanded jokes from the concert, extra scenes with the family, and some extended moments between Griffin and people on the street in Kansas City. Of the bunch, the ""Sports"" gag falls a bit on the lame side, but the rest are spot on, with extra attention given to the people you've grown to know and care for over the course of the film. Finally, there are a few sneak peeks waiting for you after you've dug into the meat of the disc, which include a hilarious trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's Comedian documentary, one for the George Clooney-directed Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, and a throw-away clip for the Alicia Silverstone thriller Cool and the Crazy. All in all, a fine release for a film that would normally not get the attention that this disc most assuredly has."
