Aliens of the Deep

Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron explores the possible link between life beneath the sea and life in outer space in this documentary. In Aliens of the Deep, Cameron joins a team of marine biologists and scientists from NASA as they share their knowledge of the young scientific field of astrobiology, which is based on the theory that the study of Earth's least habitable regions could offer a perspective on how life could survive in the harsh environment of space. Using sophisticated diving equipment, Cameron and the team of researchers travel to the deepest and darkest depths of the ocean to examine sea creatures that have adapted to these punishing conditions. Aliens of the Deep was shot in the high-definition IMAX film format, as well as in 3-D for a hyperrealistic depiction of the undersea world.
