Shooting the Past [2 Discs]

The award-winning British miniseries Shooting the Past dealt with an ambitious American property developer who wanted to renovate a crumbling old building in London. By "renovate", of course, he meant that he intended to tear the old structure down and replace it with a more modernistic design. Unfortunately for the developer, the building housed the dedicated staff of a vast historical photograph library, and they did not want to vacate under any circumstances. The bulk of the action in this 4-part story was devoted to the staff's efforts to thwart the developer's plans and retain their own little patch of Britain. Written and directed by playwright Stephen Poliakoff, Shooting the Past was telecast by BBC2 from January 10 through 31 1999.
