Classical Music and Cold War: Musicians in the GDR

A documentary by Thomas Zintl. The regime in East Germany (GDR) used classical music as one of its main weapons against (as it saw it) the bloated and uncultured West. Unpoliticized and safe classical artists were used to promote this ideology and were well rewarded. This documentary explores this side of GDR life, both for those privileged and those not so fortunate.
