The Human Trace

Director Jason Satterlund helmed this thriller, which unfolds in the closely-knit community of Solace. A string of grisly serial murders rocks the area, but detectives come up empty handed when they aren't able to identify any cause of death in the victims. Many come to suspect the local law enforcement officials, however - and to clear the names of his colleagues and the reputation of his department, county detective Kyle Fishburn goes undercover to tag the killer. Moving into a local B&B, he befriends the owner Gordy - an oddball eccentric who seems to possess an uncanny knowledge of the town. As the investigation rolls forward, Kyle arrives at the terrifying, unshakable conclusion that the slayings are in no way run-of-the-mill homicides -- and that an unspeakable evil holds the town in an asphyxiating vice.
