Paquito d'Rivera: Improvise One

By any standard, Cuban born and New York-based saxophone and clarinet maestro Paquito D'Rivera projects an astonishing degree of stylistic crossover ability. Though ostensibly a jazz musician, d'Rivera has also commissioned outstanding classical works, and sustains an impeccable reputation for performances with a full orchestra. In this concert film, originally mounted and shot in 2007, D'Rivera performs a series of selections - both solo instrumentals and duets with the brilliant Dutch jazz vocalist Fay Claassen. Tracks include: "Chick," "Atonal," "Como Un Bolero," "PFP (Piece for Paquito)," and "La Dama y el Vagabundo," plus exclusive interviews with Claassen and D'Rivera.
