Richard Strauss: Elektra - Dohnanyi

The Opernhaus Zurich mounted this production of Richard Strauss's 1909 opera ELEKRA in late 2005. Strauss adapted the work from Hugo von Hoffmansthal's 1903 stage drama of the same name, which von Hoffmansthal, in turn, adapted from the seminal Greek tragedy. This version stars Marjana Lipovsek as Klytamnestra, Eva Johansson as Elektra, Melanie Diener as Chrysothemis and Rudolf Schasching as Aegisth. The Chorus of the Opernhaus Zurich and the Orchester der Oper Zurich provide musical accompaniment.
