Filmmaker Luane Beck explores the struggle that Christians wage while attempting to reconcile sexuality with spirituality by speaking with religious leaders about their interpretations of the Bible, and homosexuals who have wrestled with their sexual identities their entire lives. An unguarded reflection on the challenges of being both gay and religious, God and Gays: Bridging the Gap doesn't shy away from more controversial stories, such as the heartbreaking tale of a fundamentalist mother who got her wish when her lesbian daughter committed suicide, or the woman who spent fifteen years in Exodus Ministries before awakening to see that her humanity had been steadily suppressed. Yet despite all the stories of separation, suicide, and sadness, it's the challenging concepts of acceptance and reconciliation that form the foundation of Beck's thought-provoking film.
