This Man Must Die

"Claude Chabrol's engrossing psychological thriller comes to DVD in this modest but well-presented package. The original widescreen aspect ratio of the film is retained. The audio features the original French-language soundtrack, as well as two alternate tracks dubbed into English and Spanish; the disc also includes optional English subtitles. Extras include biographies of the film personnel, stills, and the movie's theatrical trailer. The film-to-video transfer, however, is far from great. In many exterior scenes the focus is soft, and the detail is mushy. This becomes especially noticeable during fast camera movements. On the other hand, given This Man Must Die's long unavailability on home video, this DVD release is a welcome opportunity to see this acclaimed movie."
