The Day of the Triffids

This science fiction thriller finds the inhabitants of Earth plagued with problems after a meteor shower. Most everyone ends up blind, and a mysterious plant called Triffidus Celestus starts growing out of control. The plant begins its terrifying feast on human flesh to keep it alive, gobbling up helpless blind people. Bill (Howard Keel) was spared the loss of vision by having his eyes bandaged before the meteor shower. He battles his way through the killer plants on his way to rescue an scientist and his wife who are stranded at a local lighthouse.
