Chicano Rock!: The Sounds of East Los Angeles

This documentary chronicles the story of how young people in the Mexican American community of Los Angeles created their own hybrid cultural niche in the 1950's, complete with a unique form of music - Chicano rock. Pioneered by artists like Lalo Guerrero, the sound had a tremendous influence on the development of rock and roll, with influences that can still be heard today.
