This documentary presents a portrait of the celebrated American author Philip Roth as he turns eighty years old. In addition to surveying his career, which includes creating such classic novels as Goodbye, Columbus; Portnoy's Complaint; and American Pastoral, the film is filled with testimonials from writers influenced by him including Jonathan Franzen.
