Intense, claustrophobic western in which a dour sheep-ranch owner attempts to wean his son away from the Mexican girl Jetta Goudal he has married by maneuvering her into a flirtation and, eventually, suspicion of murder involving migrant ranch worker George Bancroft. Intelligent, yet oddly enigmatic climax.
