Casey At The Bat

This silent, free adaptation of the classic baseball poem tells the story of a poor junk dealer who becomes the best ball player in town. So talented is Casey that a scout from the New York Giants signs him to their team. Again mighty Casey does well and the team makes it to the World Series. Unfortunately some people want the Giants to lose and so they convince the naive Casey that he is far too ill to play in the big game. Fortunately, a bat boy finds out about the scheme and gets Casey to the dugout on time. As he steps up to the plate, the Giants are trailing and its two away. The rest is history, but then, at the very end, the clever filmmakers throw up a final title card that insures a happy ending for all.
