The Man in the Moon

Set in small-town, rural Lousiana during the 1950s, the coming-of-age story The Man in the Moon focuses on the Trant family: father Matthew (Sam Waterston), his pregnant wife Abigail (Tess Harper), and their daughters, 17-year-old Maureen (Emily Warfield) and 14-year-old Dani (Reese Witherspoon). The Trants' newly-widowed friend Marie (Gail Strickland) arrives in town, with her 17-year-old son Court (Jason London) in tow; Dani soon develops a crush on the young man, but their friendship is disrupted by his burgeoning romance with Maureen. Then tragedy strikes, and the sisters are driven further apart.
