Brahms chose texts from the Lutheran Bible, offering comfort to the mourners rather than as a requiem for the dead. This performance features Claudio Abbado conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Barbara Bonney, Bryn Terfel and the Swedish Radio Choir. It was filmed originally in 1997 but has been restored and remastered.
