The Green Devils: The German Paratrooper Elite 1933-1941

"Inspired to create a team of paratrooper fighters as a result of their experiences with the Soviets, the German army began preparing their own paratrooper unit known as the ""fallschirmjaeger"" in 1935. First deployed in battle during Operation Weseruburg - the invasions of Denmark and Norway - in April of 1940, the ""fallschirmjaeger"" truly realized their power on the battlefield during Operation Merkur - the invasion of Crete - in 1941."
