Steam Around the World: The African Archives

The Steam Around the World series of documentary films traces the development of steam trains, as a mode of transportation, on a number of continents, with each film generally pertaining to one geographic area. Per its title, the film Steam Around the World: the African Archives hones in on the African continent, with an extensive study of how trains emerged as an industry and means of transport, in the countries from Egypt to South Africa. Subtopics include the routes, politic, mechanical construction and evolution of the railroads over time.
