"Panik House Entertainment has delivered an impressive DVD for Japanese exploitation fans with this handsome edition of Female Yakuza Tale: Inquisition And Torture. The video transfer is excellent, offering a sharp, unblemished image that overflows with rich color and vivid details. The audio portion of the disc sticks to the film's original Japanese mono soundtrack, which sounds crisp and is accompanied by well-paced English subtitles. There is also a solid collection of extras for the fans, including star and director bios, production notes, an essay on Japanese bad girl cinema, and the film's wild theatrical trailer. However, the best of the extras is an informative commentary track by Japanese exploitation cinema expert Chris D.; this track is packed with interesting critical observations about director Teruo Ishii's approach to the material and plenty of background detail on the various actors.
