The Defector

Montgomery Clift makes his final film appearance in this Cold War spy thriller that tells the tale of an American scientist who agrees to meet a Jewish doctor and retrieve an important piece of stolen Russian microfilm for the CIA while he is vacationing in East Germany. The task seems simple enough, but when a KGB agent catches on, he tries to stop the Yankee before he makes it to the border. He also hopes he can convince the American to stay. But the scientist wants to go back to the West and so convinces the Jewish physician's nurse to help him escape.
