Norma Shearer stars as Mary, the lonely American wife of dull-as-lint British Lord Philip Rexford (Herbert Marshall). At a ritzy costume party, Mary meets up with the dashing playboy Tommy Trent (Robert Montgomery) whom she had once dumped, but sparks fly between them again.
