The System

In this crime drama, a cocky bookie finds himself targeted by a determined newspaper reporter writing an expose on organized crime. As a result of the unwanted attention, a political committee is created to do more in-depth investigations. At first the bookie refuses to talk, but after a young hoodlum is killed and his own son commits suicide, the petty crook decides to sing like a bird and tell all he knows. Unfortunately, his actions put him in prison. Fortunately, the publisher who sponsored the investigation has a lovely daughter who during the trial fell in love with the bookie and has promised to await his release.
