Undefeated

Actor John Leguizamo made his directorial debut in this derivative, but entertaining, boxing drama. Leguizamo also stars as Lex Vargas, a street kid from Queens who rises to the top as a welterweight champion. Along the way, he loses touch with his roots, forgetting friends and family alike in his climb to glory. Inevitably, our hero must endure a devastating tragedy before he comes to his senses. Highlighted by several graphic boxing sequences, including a particularly brutal bout between Vargas and his cocky opponent Loco (Clifton Collins Jr.), Undefeated made its HBO cable network debut July 26, 2003.
