In this crime melodrama, a policeman fatally shoots a young teenage boy who he thought was mugging a woman. Apparently the youth had only accidentally bumped the lady and knocked her down. Though the cop is eventually acquitted, his reputation is destroyed, and he struggles to clear his sullied name.
