"Originally created by science-fiction guru Terry Nation, the series Survivors actually experienced two separate incarnations: one version ran from 1975-77 on the BBC, and the second (a remake) began running over thirty years later, on the BBC in 2008. Vaguely recalling Stephen King's The Stand and Richard Matheson's 1954 I Am Legend the program took place in a future world ravaged by a bizarre virus that had wiped out all but a handful of random and very desperate homo sapiens. The refugees had to learn to exist in a world at once dangerous, formidable, and altogether different than anything they had previously grown accustomed to. The cast of the 2008 version included Julie Graham, Max Beesley, Paterson Joseph and many others. This set includes all six episodes of Series 1 and all six episodes of Series 2."
