"This volume of the gentle BBC drama series All Creatures Great and Small represents something of a coda to the collected episodes of the original program from BBC Home Video. The package contains two feature length specials starring the All Creatures cast. One from 1983 finds James returning to Darrowby after his R.A.F. service in the war, only to discover that the Dales have scarcely changed at all, yet it remains difficult to readjust to a peacetime environment. Another special, this one from 1985, finds Siegfried pontificating on the scientific wonders of advanced medicine while James sticks to his tried and true methods - and the broader question arises of how long the countryside can resist the tide of progress"
