Black Beauty [Blu-ray]

Anna Sewell's classic horse story once again gallops on to the screen in this emotional melodrama. Though written in 1877 it's original scathing commentary upon cruelty to animals and humans is still regrettably relevant. Unlike the two previous incarnations of the tale, this one is told from the horse's point of view and sticks closely to the original story which presents episodes from the life of a magnificent black stallion who went from pampered aristocratic life on a country estate to an abused and broken down work horse clopping through the filthy London streets, and back to a farm for his peaceful and well-earned retirement.
