In 1985, bar mitzvah and wedding singer Robbie Hart sings his rendition of popular '80s tunes along with humorous party patter. Julia is a waitress at these events, and she is engaged to womanizing Glen. After Robbie gets stood up at his own wedding, he and Glen begin courting.
