A father is torn between the life he's always known and his dreams of a better life for his children in this documentary from director Jason Burlage. Feliciano is a subsistence farmer who works the soil in a small community in Southern Peru. While Feliciano's family have been farmers for generations, he's come to believe it's a life with no worthwhile future; his father felt the same way, and when Feliciano was eighteen, his folks sent him to the city to get an education and make something of himself. A few months later, Feliciano's father took ill and died, and he was forced to come home and help support his mother and siblings. Now that Feliciano is a father himself, he's decided he wants greater opportunities for his children, and now he divides his time between farming and serving as a porter along the Inca Trail, hoping to raise the money to send his children to Machu Picchu some day. In MI Chacra (aka My Land), Burlage and his crew spend a year following Feliciano as he labors on behalf of his family, discusses his history and heritage, and weighs the advantages of city life over his agrarian past. My Land was an official selection at the 2010 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
