Beyond the Clouds

This episodic drama is the first film directed by distinguished filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni (and co-directed by Wim Wenders) since he suffered a debilitating stroke in 1985. It chronicles the quest of a fictional director to find a new character for his next film. The director is seen literally descending from the clouds in an airplane. He then narrates his search which centers upon couples involved in tumultuous love affairs. The four stories he tells are based on tales from Antonioni's book of short stories That Bowling Alley on the Timber River.
