A New England man (William Powell), entrenched in a mid-life crisis, is cautioned to take a vacation by his doctor. Following the advice, the man travels to the Caribbean and while fishing, he is shocked to find a mermaid. He decides to transfer the creature to his fishpond back home, and eventually falls in love with her, despite his married status.
