Before Michael Curtiz emigrated to Hollywood to direct classics like Casablanca and Mildred Pierce, he made silent movies in his native Hungary. The fortuitous discovery of a long-lost print of his 1915 drama The Undesirable in the basement of a Hungarian cultural center in New York City sparked a restoration effort that included an eight-month digitization and restoration process.
