This is the decidedly grim and unbeautiful story of a totally apolitical gentleman, played by Giancarlo Giannini, who becomes enmeshed in a power play in pre-revolutionary Portugal. Along with several other innocents, Giannini is put "on the spot" by both the Lisbon government and the Resistance.
