The Controller-Obsession

In part two of the Controller series, Richard Sinclair's resolve to overthrow Controller guided him to put together a team of his closest confidants. His former press secretary, Christine Morrison, insisted on being part of the effort as she was deeply in love with Richard and wanted to be near him during such a period of peril. Richard had always felt a fondness for Christine and now that his marriage was over, he found he was falling in love with her.

Richard knew that to be successful, he needed to find weaknesses within Controller's empire. He devised a methodology that would help him evaluate those close to Controller. He hoped to find support from others who had been duped by Controller.

Richard decided that he could not make any progress without the assistance of Stephen Hamilton, his former vice president and current US president. Stephen had no idea why Richard wanted to meet with him when he agreed to spend some time together at Camp David. Richard knew he could trust Stephen but was not sure if what he was going to tell him would forever fracture their friendship. When Richard gave Stephen all the details of his involvement with Controller, Stephen was visibly shaken and upset but agreed to help Richard.

As Richard started to gain confidence that his efforts could succeed, he recruited other conspirators from within Controller's empire. This proved to be dangerous not just for Richard but for everyone around him.

It soon became apparent to Richard that Controller was even more powerful than he could have imagined. There was only one way that Richard could see any hope of succeeding, and despite the protestations of those closest to him, he put his plan to action.
