Pierre and Francoise Marin arrive at Port Royal, New France in 1670 to start a new life in a new colony on a new continent, but their expectations are dashed by a hostile environment, warring nations, and unscrupulous administrators and governors.
They persevere because it is a life better than the one they left in France.
