I want to go on record to this extent: I never have said a word, have never made one move to bring about this condition of affairs. When the argument was first advanced I hesitated, because there is plenty of good material in this Association. I recognize too, it is an odd year; and while I have tried to do as well as I could the year past, I don't know whether I could beat it or not. I will work as hard as I can. I am in the hands of my friends. If in the opinion of the Association you deem it advisable, I am at your service; and will simply thank you for conferring that honor upon me. Mr. W1lliams: If there is no other candidate mentioned--I believe this position has to be filled by ballot--I will move you that the Secretary cast the unanimous ballot of the Association for President Hartigan for President of this Association for the ensuing year. (Voted, ballot cast accordingly, and election declared.) Mr. Williams: I want to corroborate what President Hartigan said. I had not seen him, or talked with him, when I mentioned the nomination. The Pres1dent: I have nothing further to say, but to thank you once more. Nominations are in order for first vice-presipresident. Mr. Dick1nson: I would place in nomination Robert C. Walker, of Waterbury. He has served you on committees, and you know what he can do.
