Pitus Peston journeys with his companion Calnoon Atoye Itah, to his home world on the opposite arm of the Milky Way. Atoye, eager to end his exile and return home, hopes to reward Pitus with astounding scenes of an advanced technology. When they reach their distant goal, they find not the wonders of advanced civilization but the ruins of war and a new direction that neither envisioned.
