Foshan is situated in the central and southern part of Guangdong Province in the Pearl River Delta. It takes only two hours to drive from Foshan to Hong Kong or Macau, and one hour to drive to Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province. Foshan covers an area of 3,848 sq km and has a total population of 5.95 million. The city enjoys a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot summers.
