Shanghai, the economic and financial center of mainland China, is located on China's eastern coast at the mouth of the Yangtze River. One of the four municipalities under the direct control of China's central government, Shanghai has two central business districts: Lujiazui in Pudong, and the Hongqiao area in Puxi.
