The Sleeping Cab

To FBI senior agent, JOE MAC ADAMS, the Atonement Killer is a psychopath who scrawls the word in blood across his victims' torsos, but to rookie cop, JOLENE DYKES, he is a routine vice sting gone terribly wrong.
Polygamist trucker NARVEL LAFFERTY is given a mission by his cult's prophet to save fifty souls. Unable to persuade his marks to convert voluntarily--either by baptism or marriage--into his communal family, Narvel turns to "blood atonement," an obscure doctrine whereby the souls of grievous sinners may be saved by spilling their blood and baptizing their corpses.
Held prisoner in Narvel's sleeping cab, Jolene must play along until her police self-defense skills help her break free. While on medical leave Jolene obsessively pursues her kidnapper alone across Interstate 40, weaving together the clues to his identity with the aid of her alcoholic cop/boyfriend, DALE DILDAY.
