With her father slain and the family's future in her hands, 15-yr-old Valys joins her uncle's treasure-hunting expedition, disguising herself as a boy to face dangers and hardships with grown men. The trek is fraught with menace, and at the treasure-hoard the crew mutiny and kidnap her to hold for ransom---but her uncle calls their bluff and refuses to pay. And then they discover her sex.
