An English Girl in China

Miranda Foster was not a particularly innocent girl. Or so she would have claimed at the time her father's business associate Mr. Chain came into her room and seduced her with such abruptness and forcefulness she could hardly, thereafter believe she had consented to it. He informs her he has arranged with her father, who owes him money, to be his assistant and accompany him to Asia, and will brook no argument, however uncertain.
