Takes place in Southeast Georgia in the 1930's. Eden was founded by ex-slaves after the Civil War, now it's decendants are facing a man who wants thir land. Mr. Ahab wants the land to build a cannery. The townspeople don't want to sell. A stranger appears and tells them everything will be alright. His name is John.
