The anguish suffered by a man who has lived with three different religions and many different gods powers this book. Rolf wants to be a Christian, but can’t shake the old Druid ways. The story plays out the feelings that many of our ancestors must have felt when the Vikings were knocking at their doors and the old Druid ways were being suppressed by the advance of Christianity.
