Golden is a young adult novel, set in contemporary times, about the life of a wild horse in western Wyoming, beginning with his birth on the Red Desert north of Rock Springs. There is plenty of action as the horse grows up amongst his wild herd, is captured, abused, escapes and has various encounters with cowboys, a young girl, and the bears and wolves in Yellowstone country.
