By foot, by tractor, by wagon, and by horse, the townsfolk of River Bend make their way along the old cliff top wagon trail to the heart of Pumpkin Alley. They carefully light the candles nestled inside the carved out flesh of their pumpkins and lay them down amidst the twisted roots of the ancient cedar and spruce trees that line the road. As night descends, they slowly circle the lit pumpkins, admiring the talent of the carvers, young and old alike. Under the cover of darkness, they turn on their camp lanterns and make their way back to town in one long, tired procession. This year, Linda McCloud has talked her brother, Ross, and her friends, Hannah and Johnny, into a camp out at the abandoned cabin after The Great Pumpkin Ride has finished, hoping that they will discover the answers to some of their questions.
