Displaced

The trial of a warlord in the International Criminal Court sets off a series of events including the assault and flight of Nicole, a young Congolese woman. The book follows her journey through a landscape of refugee camps and militia violence in the eastern Congo to Uganda. A number of intertwining characters and interests lead to her flight and have a stake in her journey. The warlord on trial in the Hague has a particular interest in Nicole's fate. The impact of the trial is far reaching and extends from a priest in Uganda, to Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army, and to the warlord's sponsor, a powerful mining company in the United States.
