This is a tale of two sisters- Carla and Laura who grow up in a small farm in rural California. The older sister goes to college and moves out and the younger stays behind. Their lives grow apart, untilt he economy deals a terrible blow to the elder one. She is forced to rely on her sister and the extended family and deal with death, sorrow, grief, tragedy and finally emerges stronger.
