The author gives a vivid picture of the country's many-sided life: its multi-racial population and amazingly varied terrain. She describes her everyday domestic life in Guyana. She tells of adventure into the Interior and encounters with different races, analysing the problems which confront them. But behind all this she portrays a diverse people, full of resourcefulness, good humour and charm.
